ATHENA Awards-Ignite Change

Thursday, February 28, 2019
10:30 am - 1:30 pm

Every year, we gather to CELEBRATE the accomplishments of our women leaders.  This year we are honoring the ATHENA International Global recipient along with 12 women who are exemplar demonstrations of the ATHENA Leadership Principles.

ATHENA Valley of the Sun (AVOS) is an affiliate of ATHENA International and delivers the Becoming ATHENA Leadership programs. AVOS SUPPORTS, DEVELOPS, and HONORS women leaders of all ages.

This inspiring event will honor Global ATHENA Leadership Award honoree, Melani Walton. This Award is presented by the ATHENA International Board to an individual who has achieved the highest level of professional excellence, assisted women in reaching their potential, and whose body of work has an international impact.

You will also hear stories of six HAIL honorees: Kim Evans, Carolyn Szatkowski, Dr. Sally Downey, Heather Dopson, Carrie Smith, Shatha Barbour chosen for their leadership demonstrating one of the following ATHENA Principles: Live Authentically, Learn Constantly, Advocate Fiercely, Foster Collaboration or Build Relationships.

ATHENA Valley of the Sun (AVOS) strives to SUPPORT, DEVELOP, and HONOR the next generation of women leaders. From this year’s Young ATHENA Leadership program, six outstanding young women: Guadalupe Castro, Sahra Hussen, Analyce Trevillyan, Sophie Lewis, Monica Carpenter and Natalie Schultz will be honored for the work they are doing in their school communities.

“This event is about celebrating the inspiring stories of women igniting change in Arizona.” ~Dr. Kristine Quade,

We invite you to spend the day with us.

  • See how incredible things can happen when people come together
  • Support leadership development for women in all communities
