Meet the 2020 HAIL Recipients
Katee Van Horn
Katee Van Horn is an HR strategist and international keynote speaker focused on global Inclusion, Diversity and Belonging (IDB). She is a former VP of Engagement & Inclusion for a Fortune 500 company, where she helped build a truly special IDB culture. She now leads VH Included Consulting & Coaching, focusing on partnering with global organizations to strengthen their cultures. She is particularly interested in the topic of women in leadership to achieve IDB goals.
A proven leader, fierce competitor and active volunteer, Kristen Merrifield is Chief Executive Officer of the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits. She is an ASU Lodestar Center’s Generation Next Nonprofit Leadership Academy graduate and a 2019 Connect Association 40-Under-40 Class member. Her nearly 20 years’ experience help bridge the gap between for-profit and nonprofit sectors. Her why is to be the best version of herself to share her knowledge and experience for others to reach their full potential.
Andrea Tyler Evans
Andrea Tyler Evans is the publisher of Frontdoors Media, a print and digital publication company dedicated to celebrating the people who give generously and work to build the future of our community. She is a graduate of Valley Leadership Institute, a proud ASU alumni and volunteers with a number of Valley nonprofit organizations that help women, children and the arts. Andrea is married to Tom Evans and mom to Thomas, Ellie and their rescue kitty, Sally.
Sandra A. Mendez serves as the Assistant Director for the Community Services Division at Maricopa County Human Services Department. An Arizona native with over 30 years of experience in administering social service programs, Ms. Mendez is presently considered a subject matter expert in the administration of community action programs and utility assistance services. She serves as a board member on various private, non-profit organizations including the National Energy and Utility Affordability Coalition and Wildfire (Arizona Community Action Association).
Dr. Lori Wieters
Dr. Lori Wieters is an Industrial Psychologist who owns a business co-laboratory with her daughter in north Phoenix. Dr. Wieters, her co-lab team, and volunteers work together for the betterment of small and medium size businesses. In addition, Dr. Wieters enjoys growing new ‘Doctors’ through her work in the doctoral program at Grand Canyon University. All of this work culminates in a collaborative environment where people learn and grow together.
Karianne is an artist and nurturer, fiercely motivated by using her talents to make women feel confident, empowered, and whole. As an adult, she rekindled her love with something that brought her joy as a child…photography…and discovered an innate talent to capture a woman’s true inner beauty. Through her own transformative portrait experience, Karianne gained confidence and self-love she was lacking, and she now provides that experience to others to help them love themselves through portraits.
